Lee Levy and Brad McCandless of M Powered Strategies recently completed an ambitious project for Capital Area Reach (CAR), a nonprofit organization committed to helping young people in the DC area become successful in school, work, and the community. The MPS team helped them develop metrics to measure the success of two of their key programs: Job and Internship Placement and Community Service.
Brad and Lee conducted stakeholder interviews, facilitated working group sessions with key stakeholders, and identified the organization’s as-is and to-be state. They used that data to provide recommendations for developing frameworks to track and maintain contact with program participants, sponsors and alumni. They also developed a framework that will enable CAR to track the success and progress of the programs over time.
The MPS team spent over two months with CAR. According to Brad, “We were able to really dive head-first into Capital Area Reach’s culture, ambitions, and roadblocks, which helped us tailor our approach and metrics to their organization’s future.” Now, with the tools MPS helped develop, the organization is better positioned to secure grants that will allow them to continue their current programs, as well as provide opportunities for growth.
